What to Pack for Mastectomy Surgery

(Most Women Forget This)

Preparing for a mastectomy can feel overwhelming and packing for it? Even more so.

Most women bring the basics… but it’s often the little things they forget that make the biggest difference in comfort and recovery.

After surgery, even simple things like getting dressed, staying comfortable, or managing drains can feel like a challenge if you’re not prepared.

That’s why having the right items ready ahead of time can completely change your experience.

A Few Must-Haves You Don’t Want to Miss

Before your surgery, make sure you’re thinking about:

✔️ A front-closure bra (trust us, this matters more than you think)

✔️ Loose, easy clothing so you’re not lifting your arms

✔️ Comfort items that help you feel like you again

✔️ Tools that make recovery easier, especially if you’ll have drains

These may sound small… but they can make a big difference in how you feel after surgery.

The Items No One Talks About (But Should)

There are also a few things that most packing lists don’t mention but patients always say they wish they had.

These are the items that:

  • Help reduce discomfort

  • Make car rides easier

  • Keep you feeling more normal

  • And support your healing in ways you might not expect

And yes… we’re covering all of them.
